Humanity has been acquiring knowledge faster than ever before, but the wisdom to use that knowledge wisely has lagged behind resulting in a polluted planet, weapons of mass destruction, overpopulation and . . . (you know the rest).  Cultures that carried enough wisdom in the past to sustain themselves for thousands of years are integrating into the “Global Society” with their gems tossed to the side.
